Course content
Introduction toSurgery and Traumatology, asepsis and antisepsis. The doctrine of wounds and infections in surgery. Examination of a surgical patient and preparation for surgery. Tactics and technique of surgical operations. Postoperative care and postoperative complications. Head and Neck Surgery Endocrinosurgery and Neurosurgery. Thoracic Surgery. Cardiac surgery and vascular surgery. Abdominal surgery. Urology. Traumatology and states of shock. Pediatric surgery. Plastic surgery. Basics of Surgical Oncology. Barrier nursing care, infection in surgery. Preoperative care, postoperative care, complications. Specifics of nursing care in abdominal surgery. Specifics of nursing care in traumatology. Specifics of nursing care in orthopaedics. Care for chronic wounds. Care for the respiratory tract.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basic disease conditions and operating procedures used in surgery and traumatology and outline the subsequent conditions and possible complications, especially in terms of health and social care.
The student is well versed in the issues within the scope of the course syllabus and he/ she is able to apply the acquired knowledge and skills in planning and providing of health and social care.
