Course content

Introduction into surgery and traumatology, asepsis and antisepsis. Wounds and infections in surgery. Examination of a surgery patient and preparation for the operation. Tactics and techniques of surgical operations. Postoperative recovery care and postoperative complications. Surgery of head and neck. Endocrine surgery and neurosurgery. Thoracic surgery. Cardiac surgery and vascular surgery. Abdominal surgery. Urology. Traumatology and shock states. Pediatric surgery. Plastic surgery. Surgical oncology.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with basic pathological states and standard operating procedures in surgery and traumatology, and outline conditions and possible complications, especially from the point of view of health and social care.
Students will be familiar with the issue in the extent of the subject syllabus, and will be able to apply acquired knowledge and skills in planning and providing health and social care.

Written examination
Completion of compulsory 80% attendance at the lectures. Successful completion of a written examination.
