Course content
|
Introduction to surgery, surgical examination. The science of wounds, preoperative examination and preparation. The surgical procedure, technique, and tactics, and shock. Asepsis, antisepsis. Pathophysiology in surgery. Postoperative care, postoperative complications. Blood transfusion. The science of injuries. Infection in surgery, new trends in surgery.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with the basic concepts in surgery, examination methods in surgery, and the issue of preoperative, perioperative, and postoperative care of patients. To teach them to use the knowledge of anatomy, physiology, nursing, and other disciplines while providing care and information to patients.
The student understands the symptoms of surgical diseases. The student knows and uses the basic concepts of surgery and provides complex perioperative care to patients.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance assessment, Didactic test
Completion of compulsory 50% attendance at the lectures. Completion of compulsory 80% attendance at the practicum sessions and seminars. Successful completion of a written test or an oral examination according to the course guarantor's decision.
