Course content
Shock conditions. Heart failure Ischaemic heart disease. Arterial hypertension. Cardiomyopathy Principles of EKG. Thromboembolic disease. Arrhythmia. Syncope. Principles of EKG. Normal EKG waveform. Manifestations of arrhythmias on an EKG waveform. Manifestations of myocardial ischemia on an EKG waveform.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to gain knowledge about the subject Internal Medicine, focused on pre-hospital diagnostics, treatment, and also on the differential diagnosis of acute conditions in internal medicine.
The student knows the fundamentals of symptomatology, diagnostics, treatment, and principles of nursing care of patients with selected cardiovascular, respiratory, gastrointestinal, and metabolic diseases. As far as the practical skills are concerned, the student has good command of the procedures specified in the syllabus of practical exercises.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Student performance assessment, Presentation

Completion of at least 50% compulsory attendance at the lectures. Completion of compulsory 85% attendance at the practicum sessions, completion of a written assignment. Completion of an oral examination.
