Course content
The system of prenatal care in the country. Investigation methods in prenatal care. Introduction of Pediatrics. Growth and development of the healthy child. Congenital evolutionary disorders, heredity. Physiological and pathological newborn. Diseases of the digestive tract. Diseases of the endocrine glands and growth disorders. Diseases of the blood, heart and blood circulation. Diseases of muscles, bones, rheumatic disease. Diseases of the respiratory tract. Diseases of the kidney and urinary tract. Diseases of the nervous system. Diseases of the immune system. Skin diseaseshos. Allergic diseases and shock. Oncological diseases in pediatrics. Examination in prenatal care. Basics in newborn care. Nutrition in neonates and infants, breastfeeding. Care specifics of the hospitalized children. Evaluation of growth and development, basic physical examination. Preventive examinations in childhood, vaccinations. Child nutrition. Preoperative and postoperative care, cooping with pain in children. Care basics of children with selected symptoms.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the system of prenatal care and basic preventive and curative focus of pediatrics. Teaching is focused on prenatal care, newborn care and the peculiarities of childhood when the disease in this age are always accompanied by a significant psychosocial dimension.
Students are familiar with the system of prenatal care in the Czech Republic and can provide basic newborn care. The student knows the causes and manifestations of pathologies in pediatrics, which endanger the child's life, differential diagnosis of these conditions and provide adequate support at the first contact with the child.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination

The fulfilment of compulsory 75 % attendance at lectures. The fulfilment the compulsory 80 % active participation at seminars. Successful completion of a written test or an oral examination according to the course guarantor's decision.
