Course content
Becoming familiar with the intensive care and resuscitation unit Practicing nursing activities, the nursing process. Practicing communication skills. Respecting the patient's rights. Applying principles of ethics during work. Material and technical equipment of the emergency medical services. Centre for healthcare operations. Nursing procedures in prehospital emergency care. Material and technical equipment in urgent admissions. Managing work organization in the department of urgent admissions and in the emergency medical services. Nursing care in a medical, surgical, and paediatric ICU. Nursing care in the department of anaesthesia and resuscitation and in the operating theatre. Nursing care in the department of urgent admissions. Nursing care in paramedic teams of the Rapid Medical Aid and the Rapid Healthcare Aid. Nursing care in the labour and delivery suite and in the gynaecology department. Specific work in the Centre for healthcare operations, cooperation with the Mountain Rescue Service and the Mountain Service.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to gain practical skills in a network of institutions and workplaces representing emergency medical services within an integrated rescue service network and in other areas that engage in health and life rescue.
The student uses analysis, evaluation and synthesis to resolve problem situations in the treatment of sick patients/clients who are experiencing or are at risk of failing vital signs. He participates in improving the quality of nursing care, masters basic techniques of physical examination of the patient, independently prepares and implements educating clients, is able to plan the nursing process for patients with failure of vital functions due to their cultural differences. He participates in cooperation within the healthcare team, cooperates with the patient/client family, respects and observes applicable laws, ordinances and standards.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Home assignment evaluation, Student performance assessment, Discussion, Student portfolio analysis

Compliance with the compulsory 100% participation in professional practice. Compliance with specified performance and nursing processes. Completion of assigned written work. Completion of the theoretical and practical examination. The student will complete 6 model situations. The student holds a Group B driver's license no longer than in the 3rd year of ZS.
