Course content
|
Examination methods in cardiology. Fundamental symptomatology in cardiology. Heart failure. Ectopic arrhythmias. Arrhythmias due to conduction disorders. Syncope. Acute coronary syndromes. Chronic ischemic heart disease. Arterial hypertension. Venous thrombosis and embolism. Carditis and cardiomyopathy. Valve defects.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquire basic knowledge in the field of cardiology and pneumology and to become acquainted with fundamentals of symptomatology, diagnostics, treatment, and nursing issues in the care of patients with diseases of the heart, the blood vessels, and the respiratory system.
Students will be able to evaluate the current clinical status of patients with diseases of the circulatory and respiratory systems. Students will be familiar with the standard diagnostic procedures and investigative methods. Students will learn to plan individual nursing care in individual diseases of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems. Students will become familiar with targeted patient and family education concerning individual clinical conditions.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance assessment, Didactic test
Completion of compulsory 50% attendance at the lectures. Completion of compulsory 80% attendance at the practicum sessions and seminars. Completing assigned written work. Successful completion of a written test.
