Course content
Subjective and objective symptoms. Examination methods in cardiology. Heart failure, arrhythmia, syncope. Acute coronary syndromes, coronary artery disease. Arterial hypertension. Venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. Valvular disease, carditis and cardiomyopathy. Tuberculosis pulmonary and extrapulmonary. Inflammation of the air passages. Bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Diabetes mellitus I., II. type and its complications. Peptic ulcers of the stomach and duodenum. Cholelithiasis, cholecystitis, pancreatitis. Hepatitis, hepatic cirrhosis and portal hypertension. Nonspecific Inflammatory bowel disease. Renal disease, renal failure and dialysis. Haematological diseases. Rheumatic diseases and osteoporosis. Endocrinological diseases. Care specifics of patients on internal departments and linked to long-term care. Collection from the internal history of the patient. Subjective and objective symptoms of internal diseases. Basics of physical examination in internal medicine. Care specifics of patients with diabetes mellitus.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to broaden the knowledge of students in the clinical manifestations of basic diseases with internal character, diagnostic and therapeutic options, including the primary prevention of these diseases.
Students will be acquainted with standard diagnostic procedures and practices for examination methods. Students will learn to plan individual health and social care in each disease with internal character.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Student performance assessment

The fulfilment of compulsory 80% attendance at lectures. The fulfilment of compulsory 80 % active participation at seminars. Granting the credits based on attendance at lectures. Completion of a written test or an oral examination as determined by the course guarantor.
