Course content
Subjective and objective symptoms. Examination methods Metabolic syndrome Heart failure, arrhythmia, syncope. Acute coronary syndromes, ischemic heart disease. Arterial hypertension. Venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. Valvular defects, carditis, and cardiomyopathy. Diseases of the small and large intestine Inflammation of the respiratory tract. Bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Type I and II diabetes mellitus and its complications. Peptic ulcer disease of the stomach and duodenum. Cholelithiasis, cholecystitis, pancreatitis. Liver diseases. Non-specific intestinal inflammation. Kidney and urinary tract diseases. Haematological diseases. Rheumatic diseases and osteoporosis. Endocrine diseases. Care specifics of patients on internal departments and linked to long-term care. Collection from the internal history of the patient. Subjective and objective symptoms of internal diseases. Basics of physical examination in internal medicine. Care specifics of patients with diabetes mellitus.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to broaden the knowledge of students in the clinical manifestations of basic diseases with internal character, diagnostic and therapeutic options, including the primary prevention of these diseases. Students are able to evaluate the current clinical condition of patients with internal diseases of internal nature.
Students know standard diagnostic procedures and methods of examination. Students are able to plan individual health and social care for specific internal diseases.

Student performance assessment

Compliance with the mandatory attendance requirements for seminars and lectures. Passing a written test or oral examination, or other conditions, as decided by the course guarantor.
