Course content
|
Anatomy and physiology of the nervous system. Localization of brain function disorders. Central and peripheral pareses. Sensory disorders, speech disorders, neuralgia. Basic brain and spinal syndromes. Auxiliary examinations (EEG, EMG, cerebrospinal fluid). Cerebrovascular accident. Multiple cerebrospinal sclerosis. Neuromuscular illnesses. Epilepsy and seizure disorders.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with prevention, treatment, and nursing issues existing in neurological and psychiatric illnesses and to emphasize special characteristics in the care of neurological and psychiatric patients.
The student is able to evaluate the clinical conditions in neurology, knows the diagnostic procedures, tests, and standard treatment, and is able to determine nursing diagnoses and interventions for individual clinical conditions, plan, implement, and evaluate individual nursing care of neurological patients.

Written examination, Student performance assessment, Didactic test
Completion of compulsory 80% attendance at the lectures. Completion of compulsory 80% attendance at the practicum sessions and seminars. Successful completion of a written test (75%).
