Course content
|
Rehabilitation as a medical field and as a basic component of the societal health and social system. Introduction to rehabilitation - the definition of the field, the essence, goal, and methodical principles. Rehabilitation nursing - the essence. Positioning - basic types, prevention of pressure ulcers, fitness exercises. Disorders of the correct posture, functional disorders of the locomotor system. Breathing, breathing gymnastics. Caring for elimination, drinking regime. Energy use in therapeutic rehabilitation. Valid legal regulations in the field of rehabilitation in the CR. ICF and its practical application in rehabilitation. The procedures for determining the individual's functional and work potential. IWS. Collaboration with the Employment Office. Cognitive rehabilitation - the concept, fundamental procedures for diagnosis and treatment of cognitive functions. Ergo-diagnostics and occupational therapy in the therapeutic domain of rehabilitation. Social and pre-work rehabilitation in bed (contact with family, option). The issue of lay volunteer workers in the departments.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with options existing in rehabilitation medicine and to use several important features in the form of rehabilitation nursing in daily patient care. Specifically, it concerns minimizing the risk of potential complications in immobile patients, shortening the length of treatment, and therefore reducing treatment expenses.
The student becomes acquainted with rehabilitation of patients with a physical, mental, or sensory handicap with an aim to maintain or to regain lost skills, or if need be, to compensate for permanently lost functions.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral examination
Completion of compulsory 75% attendance at the lectures. Completion of compulsory 80% attendance at the practicum sessions and seminars. Successful completion of an oral examination.
