Course content
Triage. Asphyxia. Types of wounds, wound treatment, stopping bleeding. Chest trauma. Abdominal trauma. Vascular trauma. Head, neck and skeletal trauma. Biological weapons injuries. Multiple trauma - definition, trauma team organization. Shocks and infusion therapies. Airway management. Providing respiration. Providing circulation.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with basic knowledge in the field of emergency war surgery, and delivery of pre-hospital care in patients suffering from life-threatening conditions. Students will undergo practical training to learn how to perform various procedures, especially to secure airways and maintain breathing (basic manual maneuvers, suction unit, oral and nasal auxiliary airways, oxygen mask, oxygen, combitube, laryngeal mask, intubation, surgical securing of airways - coniopuncture and coniotomy, manual artificial respiration, breathing with bag mask, chest tube insertion and thoracentesis) and to maintain blood circulation (stopping a life-threatening bleeding - pressure bandage, emergency bandage, pressure points, tourniquet, punctures and cannulation of peripheral venous system, fluid replacement, infusions, B.I.G.TM). Students will have both theoretical knowledge and practical knowledge in operating all the equipment listed above, and also be able to perform the set procedures.
In theory, the graduate must know and use the aforesaid aids and practise the given performance.

Student performance assessment, Didactic test

Completion of compulsory 50% attendance at the lectures. Completion of compulsory 85% attendance at the practicum sessions. Successful completion of an written examination.
