Course content
Acute conditions in paediatrics associated with the respiratory system. Acute conditions in paediatrics associated with the cardiovascular system. Acute conditions in paediatrics associated with disorders of the GIT, NPB. Acute conditions in paediatrics associated with disorders of the CNS. Acute conditions in paediatrics associated with diseases of the gastrointestinal and urogenital tracts. Abdominal emergencies. Burns, intoxication, drowning, electrical injuries. SIDS, sy CAN Basic physical examination of the child. Communication with children, parents. Assessment of consciousness and pain in children. Caring for a child with shortness of breath, fever, febrile convulsions. Caring for a child with vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration. Model situations of selected acute conditions in children.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the most common acute conditions in childhood and their solutions.
The student knows causes and manifestations of acute conditions in paediatrics that directly threaten the child's life, differential diagnostics, and provision of specialized aid during the first contact with the child.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Home assignment evaluation, Didactic test

Completion of compulsory 85% attendance at the practicum sessions and seminars. Completing assigned written work. Successful completion of an oral examination.
