Course content
|
History of the field of psychiatry, General psychiatry. Organic mental disorders. Endogenic mental disorders. Therapy in psychiatry, Community care. Alcoholism and other drug addiction. Child and adolescent psychiatry. Gerontopsychiatry. Disorders of food intake.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with prevention, treatment, and nursing issues existing in psychiatric illnesses and to emphasize special characteristics in the care of psychiatric patients.
The student is able to practically apply gained theoretical knowledge, is able to identify and assess individual needs of psychiatric patients, to plan, implement, and critically evaluate and defend the nursing process.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Written examination, Didactic test
Completion of compulsory 50% attendance at the lectures. Completion of compulsory 80% attendance at the practicum sessions and seminars. Successful completion of a written test or an oral examination according to the course guarantor's decision.
