Course content

Introduction, aging, ontogenesis theory, changes in an organism. Special features of illnesses in the old age. Mental disorders in the old age. Special features of pharmacology in the old age. History. Causes of infectious diseases. Epidemiology. Common infections in this country. The diagnostic process in infections. Protection against an infectious disease. Treatment of infectious diseases. Vaccination.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the part Nursing Care of Seniors is to acquaint students with a complex approach to patients of an older age. The aim of the course Nursing Care of Patients with Infectious Diseases is to acquaint students with diagnostics, treatment, prophylaxis, and prevention of infectious, or, as the case may be, of transmittable diseases.
The student knows special characteristics of diseases in the old age, both from a general perspective and from a perspective of specific disease groups. The student has specialized theoretical and practical knowledge of the nursing process in the care of patients with an infectious illness.

Completion of compulsory 90% attendance at the lectures Completion of compulsory 80% attendance at the practicum sessions and seminars. Successful completion of a written test or an oral examination according to the course guarantor's decision.
