Course content
|
Health care and healthcare system in the Czech Republic, general theory of systems. Health care economics, economics of healthcare. Functions of the state in the healthcare economy of the Czech Republic, demand, and supply in health care. Health insurance companies, functions of insurance companies and reimbursement mechanisms. Economics of health care facilities, health care facility assets, costs, revenues, and economic result of health care facilities. Healthcare calculations and budgets, accounting, and tax accounting. Health systems in the Czech Republic and abroad. Health and its economic aspects. State interventions in the health economy in the Czech Republic. Functions of health insurance companies and their legal regulation in the Czech Republic. Analysis of economic activities of health organisations. Managing financial flows in healthcare. Financial management and controlling in healthcare. Taxes and tax policy, wages, and remuneration. Financing of outpatient health services, acute inpatient care, financing of pharmacies and drugs, financing of laboratories, basics of financial analysis. Financial management of healthcare facilities, indicators as a reflection of economic reality, financial planning, and financial forecasts. Financial management, financial management and the position of controlling in business management, basic areas in which controlling is applied.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to provide a comprehensive set of knowledge and basic concepts of health care economics, financial, insurance and reimbursement structure of the health care system.
Students use and orient themselves in the knowledge of health economics, finance, insurance, reimbursement mechanisms. In accordance with the Government Regulation No. 275/2016 Coll. on Areas of Education in Higher Education, due to the number of credits for the completion of the course, the course is classified in the areas of education Part 5 - Economics (50 %; 2 credits) and Part 36 - Health Care (50 %; 2 credits).

Oral examination
Compulsory attendance at lectures. Passing a written test or oral examination as decided by the course guarantor.
