Course content
Basic terminology in research, types of research works, the research process. Evidence-based health sciences, current activities in health sciences research. Searching for Czech and foreign literature in the field of health sciences research, electronic databases, creation and use of research questions (PICO, PICo), quality of literature in health sciences research. Ethics in research. Basic analysis of a research article - quantitative research. Basic analysis of a research article - qualitative research. Basic analysis of a research article - systematic overview. Methods of translation of research tools and their transcultural validation and verification of psychometric characteristics. Implementation of the project application of research results into practice. Project of application of research results into practice: measurement of results, evaluation, maintenance, extending, finishing the innovation. Searching for literature in the field of health sciences research. Quality of literature in health sciences research. Basic analysis of a research article - quantitative research. Basic analysis of a research article - qualitative research. Basic analysis of a research article - systematic overview. Methods of translation of research tools and their transcultural validation. Identification and description of problems in health sciences practice that can be solved within the project of application of research results, the project of application of research results into practice.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to make students acquainted with the principles of evidence-based health care, with primary foreign sources of research literature, with the rules for searching research results in health sciences, with analysis of research articles, and with the basic principles of the application of research results into practice.
Students can identify research problems in health sciences, they are familiar with available literature, they are able to distinguish the research methods, analyse the published results correctly, and based on the analysis they apply the results of the research into practice.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination

Compulsory 50 % attendance at lectures. Compulsory 80 % attendance in seminars. Passing a written test or oral examination as decided by the course guarantor.
