Course content

Crisis management. Management in crisis situations, effective crisis management, pitfalls, and obstacles to effective crisis management. Terminology. The role of health care in the security system of the state. The importance of healthcare in terms of critical infrastructure. Concept of crisis preparedness of the health sector. Healthcare in the crisis management system. Organisation of crisis management in health care. Jurisdiction of crisis management authorities in the health sector. Crisis situations in health care. Trauma planning. Epidemic and pandemic plans. Crisis management of the IRS. Principles of medical intervention management and organisation of PEC at the emergency site. Crisis management of hospitals. The position of inpatient facilities in the crisis preparedness system. Crisis structure of a hospital. Crisis preparedness of specialised health care facilities. Utilization of departmental and foreign health care providers in dealing with crisis situations. Psychology of crisis management. Psychosocial intervention care system. Information security for crisis management (IT tools) and methods for crisis management support. Smart quarantine. Material preparedness of the health care system for emergencies.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquire knowledge and skills for crisis management in a healthcare organisation in the context of crisis management of the integrated rescue system, to deepen the knowledge needed to identify and assess risks in the healthcare sector and to implement the principles of crisis management in healthcare. The course will create a knowledge base for the application of the crisis management system in emergencies and crisis situations in health care institutions so that conditions are created and measures are taken to maintain a defined way of providing health care services.
Students in the course will also acquire knowledge and skills in the management of medical intervention at the scene of an emergency and the impact of emergencies on the personality of rescuing professionals, affecting the human dimension of crisis preparedness. Students have the knowledge and skills for crisis management, medical intervention, and emergency management.
