Course content
Anemia. Etiology, clinical presentation, diagnosis, treatment options, dietotherapy, complications, prevention. Guidelines on substitution transfusion. White blood cell disorders. Acute and chronic leukemia. Symptoms of malignant proliferation. Myeloproliferative disorders, general characteristics. Lymphoproliferative disorders, symptomatology, treatment options. Bone marrow transplantation. Physiology of blood coagulation - introduction, primary hemostasis. Thrombocytopenia, symptomatology of platelet function disorders. Plasma coagulation system, fibrinolytic system function. Natural inhibitors of blood coagulation, hypercoagulable states, hypercoagulation. Acute bleeding in congenital and acquired cases, differential diagnosis, treatment. Antiaggregants, anticoagulation therapy, thrombolytic therapy. Laboratory monitoring. Guidelines on drawing blood and bone marrow. Materials for collecting samples and punctures, use and sterilization. Guidelines on handling of cytostatic drugs. Haematological methods of examination, taking medical history, documentation, oncology report. Specific approach to patients with cancer. Coagulation - analytical phase of examination, determination of bleeding with Duke's method. Routine and special coagulation testing. Interpretation of findings of coagulation testing. Process of the patient with hematologic disorders in pregnancy and labor.
