Course content
1. Contemporary public communication in postmodern media context 2. Ancient origins of rhetoric as an art, ethical context of speech 3. Groundworks of body, breath and feeling emotions self-regulation 4. Monologic forms of rhetorical communication and topic focused presentation 5. Theory and practice of dialogic processes in rhetoric, management and couching 6. Experiencing of specific roles speaking, empathy and assertiveness 7. General principles and tools of critical, analytical and creative thinking 8. Storytelling as the instrument of increasing efficiency of speech performance

Learning outcomes
Central contents of the seminar is based on practical excercises focused on some prominent aspects and specific methods of contemporary rhetoric, or neorhetoric, in general communicative context, with respect to historical, first of all ancient foundations of the discipline. Throught the structured, both monologue and dialogue based rhetorical excercises the participants will be inspired to improve the level of their speech abilities, including the necessary stylistic and presentation competences. The inherent part of the wider methodical framework of the seminar is formed by running reflection and self-reflection concerning analytic, critical and creative thinking, storytelling, assertive self-couching and self-management together with various manipulation strategies defense.
This course provides insights into selected rhetoric genres, develops skills of working with topics, adopting various opinion positions by speaking in selected roles, and higher level of presentation competences. The course graduates will be able to prepare and present, including structuring the topic and specific way of presentation etc., medium length speech on previously specified theme. A higher ability of improvisation in open discussion is also expected, for example communication in teams and groups, public debates, panel discussions etc.

Regular attendance according to the agreed rules and active participation in the seminar are the basic conditions for granting credit, each course participant will prepare and deliver a final ten to fifteen minute speech on any topic based on the discussed rhetorical models in addition to ongoing seminar exercises.
