Learning outcomes
|
During the seminar will the students get acquainted with the detective fiction as one of the main genres of popular literature. They will get to know its characteristic patterns, basic themes and genre variantions. The development of the detective story (discussed here from the end of the 19th century until 2nd world war) will be dealt with on the background of bio- and bibliographical portraits of the most important writers, mostly of anglo-american origin.
The students will gather detailed information abou an important domain of popular culture and will be able to use it in their practical experience or in their own research.

Assessment methods and criteria

Student performance assessment, Work-related product analysis
The attedance is compulsory with a tolerated maximum of three absences per term. Condition for obtaining the credit is sufficient attendance, active participation in courses and creating and presentation of a paper on a chosen theme or author. In case of e-learning the report will be replaced by an essay.
