Course content
|
Introduction - basic statements of Bulgarian language. Bulgarian language and its phonetic specialities, acquirement of the cyrilic alphabet, pronuntiation of vocals; vocalism in the Bulgarian language - accented and unaccented vocalism. Introduction and acquaintance, phrase "What is your name?" and "Where are you from?" Basic social turns of speech - greetings, requests and acknowledgments. Pronouns, verb to be and to have in the present - their connotations. Addressing, dialogue "How are you?", expression of the agreement / disagreement. Everyday life, days, months. Nouns and their categories - gender, singular / plural. Time marking - "What time is it?", "What´s the day?". Bulgarian language and expression of cases - function of prepositions. Family, family members and their relationships. Adjectives and their categories. Holiday, odd time. "Where are we going to the holiday to?" Bulgarian verb - conjunctions. Travel, transportation. At the airport, at the railway station. In the train, in the plane. Past in the Bulgarian language. Names of countries and historical territories. Bulgarian past perfect and plusquamperfect. Names of inhabitants of countries and towns. Comparison of adjectives and adverbs. Restaurant, confectionery, café, tavern - names of dishes and drinks. Bulgarian national cuisine. Nouns in cases in Bulgarian language. The letter, correspondence. In the post office. Pronominal adverbs. Shopping. "How much is it?" Shops and their assortment. Numerals in Bulgarian language. Culture - art, literature, music.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to inform students about essentials of Bulgarian language. The language course involves explanation of grammar and it increases linguistic knowledge of students.
Students should gain basic knowledge of Bulgarian language in all respects. They should master all the importance of Bulgarian and its phonetics and grammar. They should manage with basic language situations they can meet in common life.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral examination, Written examination, Discussion
Active participation in the seminars, home preparation, regular attendance (max. 20% absence), passing a final test and a dialogue.
