Course content
Comparison as a synthesis. Romantic character. Dynamic space-times. The meaning of inter-textuality.

Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to focus on the history of world literature from its first letter relics to the present day. This course introduces the best of world letters, using a comparative approach. It focuses on the comparative analysis of literary works and ensuing discussions. During the academic year, students are asked to present their seminar papers (on selected literary works) to their classmates and to answer the questions raised in discussion.
The students are introduced to independent editor's work, archive work and publishing in media in the realm of developing European cultural awareness; they will gather knowledge and skills fully utilizable in propagation of translation plans and in expert interpretation of currently published texts from Czech and world literature.
