Introduction to the oscillating of nonlinear systems with single degree of freedom. Vibration of strings, progressive waves. Longitudinal vivration of thin rodes, torsional vibration of shafts. Transverse vibration of thin beams, Rayleigh´s method for determination of natural frequences. Vehicles vibrations. Time reserve and summary.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming)
Learning outcomes
Aim of the course unit is acquaint students with wider look on the vibration of discrete systems (lumped-parameters) and of continuous systems, explain discrepancy between linear and systems, on instances explain using of approximate methods for determination of natural frequencies of continuum, accent necessity knowledge of theory of vibrations for solution of technical problems of vibrating systems and explain principle solution of vehicle vibrations.
After graduation of the subject student regaining more complex and more exact look on a problems of vibration in technical practice, can calculate natural frequency of systems and apply knowledge of theory of vibration on analysis of vibrating actions in a real systems.
Prerequisites
Presumption of successful studies the subject is very good knowledge from Mechanics I, Kinematics and Mechanics II of baccalaureate studies.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination

The requirements will be defined by lecturer.
