Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming)
  • Home preparation for classes - 68 hours per semester
  • Contact teaching - 78 hours per semester
  • Term paper - 4 hours per semester
Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to introduce students to basic construction parts and loadings. To explain basic principles and functions, to teach the students to determine stresses and deformations evaluate the safety of a component in simpler cases and to propose the standards machine parts for given load.
After having absolved course, student understands basic kinds of loading and failure of standard machine parts. He/she is able to calculate stresses and deformations in simpler cases. He is able to evaluate the safety of a component or to propose the cross-section dimensions for given load and demanded degree of safety.
