Course content
|
Corrosion - principles of corrosion; types of corrosion. Corrosion processes and their types (chemical, physical, electrochemical). Types of corrosion attacks. Particular corrosion environments. Corrosion reactions a corrosion cells. Corrosions by stray current; electrochemistry protections. Electrochemistry cells (primary and secondary batteries). Testing methods for metals corrosion (natural and laboratory corrosion tests) Corrosion a corrosion resistance of non ferrous metals. (Al, Ti, Cu, Zn). Corrosion of glass and plastics. Surface pretreatment of metals. Surface treatment - metallic surface coatings (metal plating). Surface treatment - electroplating. Surface treatment - non metallic surface coatings, enamelling. Surface treatment - organic coatings (paintings). Paintings testing. Non conventional surface treatment - diffusion coatings, PVD, CVD, anodizing, plastics coatings. Corrosion resistant steels.

Learning outcomes
|
Aim of these lessons is knowledge from corrosion engineering. Properties of difference corrosion environments to different materials. basic principles of corrosion/surface degradation of (metallic) materials. Surface treatment, classification, pre-treatment processes, ecological aspects of surface treatment.
