Course content
Atomic structure. Electron configuration of atoms and ions. Periodic of configurations of elements. Chemical bonding. Covalent bonding.MO-LCAO (Molecular Orbital-Linear Combination of Atomic Orbitals). Ionic bonding. Bonding in solid state. Band structure model. Metals. Bonding in metals. Properties of metals.

Learning outcomes
The student learns basics of atoms structure, chemical bonding and classification of chemical reactions. The important part of the subject is basic calculation in chemistry.
The graduate is well informed about general chemistry and especially is able to solve basic chemical calculations.

Oral examination

Periodical control - two tests, The final examination consists of two parts - oral and written test.
