Course content

The subject expands and deepens knowledge in the field of studying methods of thermal analysis. Emphasis is placed both on the theoretical basis of individual thermal analysis methods and on practical examples and procedures. On the one hand, it is focused on the specificity of individual methods, on the other hand, on the combination of the use of thermal analysis methods with one of the other analytical methods. Thermal analysis methods, e.g. differential scanning calorimetry, thermogravimetry, dynamic thermomechanical analysis, viscosity measurement, etc. are combined with other analytical methods, e.g. mechanical and optical property measurements, Raman and infrared microscopy and atomic force microscopy, and material characterization using SEM and EDX analyses.

Learning outcomes
|
The goal is a more detailed understanding of the principles of thermoanalytical methods as well as a more detailed description of the properties of the specific materials studied. The subject also includes a discussion of specific problems in the field of thermal analysis that will occur in individual dissertations.
Orientation in thermal methods, including understanding of the thermal properties of solid states.
