Course content
Introduction to interpersonal communication. Communication theory. Verbal communication. Nonverbal Communication. Introduction to medical communication. Listening, empathy, appreciation, criticism. Assertiveness. Training in forms of interpersonal communication. Verbal communication training. Non-verbal communication training. Presentation skills (self-presentation). Practicing listening, empathy, appreciation, criticism. Assertive techniques training.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Skills training, Stimulating activities (simulation, games, drama)
Learning outcomes
The aim is to provide students with basic information on the nature of interpersonal communication, focusing on its use when dealing with clients in health services. Upon completion of the subject, students should have acquired not only the required content of theoretical knowledge, but also communication skills that will enable them to behave professionally in various situations while working with clients and their loved ones.
Students apply the knowledge and experience gained in lectures and exercises into practice, they manage communication with people across all ages and they can communicate with individuals that can cause problems. Students can solve conflicts and problems using assertive techniques.

Fulfillment of mandatory active 80% participation in exercises. Fulfillment of mandatory attendance at lectures. Completion of a written test or an oral exam as decided by the subject guarantor.
