Course content
Psychology as a scientific discipline. Methods of learning about mental life. Introduction: Psychology of the personality - genesis of the personality. Mental characteristics of the personality. Social psychology. Mental states. Mental processes. Theory of the personality. The conception and the essence of mental development. The concept of ontogenesis. The role of heredity, the environment, and education in the psyche's development. Developmental theories. The prenatal period. The newborn period. The infant period. The toddler period. The preschool period. The younger school-age period. The period of the second structural change: puberty. Adolescence. The adult period. The old-age period.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Skills training, Stimulating activities (simulation, games, drama)
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to give students basic information from the area of general and developmental psychology, to acquaint them with the essence of the personality while emphasizing the patient's personality.
The student is able to explain the position of psychology as a science in a system of social sciences, is able to analyze mental activities, processes, and states and their disorders. Through learning about his/her personality, he/she is able to better understand other people. He/she understands the differences of the human psyche in individual stages of development. He/she is able to use basic techniques of management of stressful situations.

Assessment methods and criteria
Student performance assessment, Didactic test, Discussion, Systematic monitoring

Completion of compulsory 80% attendance at the practicum, sessions and seminars, performance completion seminary work. Successful completion of a written test. The fulfillment of compulsory 50% attendance at lectures.
