Course content
General pharmacology - introduction. Drugs affecting the CNS, ANS. Medicines affecting pain, fever, inflammation, heart, blood vessels. Medicines affecting blood, metabolism, respiratory system. Drugs affecting the GIT and urogenital system. Medicines affecting the immune system, endocrine system and antimicrobial drugs. Work with the list of medicines. Practicing Pharmacological connections - pharmacological groups. Practicing Pharmacological connections - indications. Practicing Pharmacological connections - adverse effects. Practicing Pharmacological connections - contraindications. Practicing Pharmacological connections - drug interactions.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to explain to students principles of laboratory diagnostics and to acquaint them with a laboratory manual, to provide them with basic information from general pharmacology and to acquaint them with essential information of the most important groups of medications used in medicine.
The student has an understanding of the spectrum of laboratory examinations and their significance for determining a diagnosis and a prognosis and for monitoring treatment efficacy. The student orientates himself/herself in the most important groups of medications, knows the effects of selected medications on the organism, is able to work with the Directory of medicines and to use it in his/her practice.
