Course content
Introduction into Philosophy, Ethics, and Law. Ethical balance sheet and key ethical theories. Ethical issues of the beginning of human life. Ethical issues of the end of human life. Human rights, rights and responsibilities of patients and of health care workers. Codes of ethics. Ethical issues in research involving human subjects. Professional misconduct of healthcare workers. Ethical issued in selected clinical disciplines - case studies.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to form the character, intellectual and professional characteristics of the personality of a healthcare worker and to increase their sensitivity towards ethical problems of contemporary health care.
The student is able to explain basic philosophical terms. The student becomes familiar with the course and its significance in a given field. The student gains basic understanding of the subject of philosophy in nursing. Students are able to orientate themselves in legal regulations in health care, which are necessary for their practice.

Fulfilment of 80% compulsory attendance at seminars. Fulfilment of tasks assigned in lectures and seminars. Completion of a written test or oral examination according to the course guarantor's decision.
