Course content
Definition of human communication and the influence of individual experience and personality factors in communication. The theory of communication. Verbal communication (content, form, kinds and stages of a conversation). Non-verbal communication, body language, language of sounds, objects, and actions. Observation and listening. Principles of effective communication. Practicing forms of communication (monologue, dialogue). What is said through body language and through language of objects and acions. Practicing forms of speech (presentation, education). Practicing active listening and perception. Verbal communication (content, form, kinds and stages of a conversation). Practicing verbal and non-verbal communication.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to provide students with basic information about the nature of interpersonal communication, focusing on its use in relation to clients of health and social services.
Students apply knowledge and skills gained in lectures and practicum sessions to practice, have mastered communication with people across all age groups as well as communication with problematic types of individuals. Students are able to solve conflicts and problems using assertive techniques. In practice, they use alternative and augmentative communication techniques in practice.

Completion of compulsory 80% attendance at the lectures and practicum sessions. Completion of a written test. Completion of an oral examination.
