Course content
Introduction to interpersonal communication. Communication theory. Verbal communication. Nonverbal communication. Introduction to medical communication. Listening, empathy, appreciation, criticism. Assertiveness. Practising forms of interpersonal communication. Practising verbal communication. Practising nonverbal communication. Presentation skills (self-presentation). Practising listening, empathy, appreciation, and criticism. Practising assertive techniques.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to provide students with basic information concerning the nature of interpersonal communication, focusing on its use in relation to clients of health care services. Upon subject completion, students should acquire not only the required theoretical knowledge but also communication skills, which will enable them to behave in a professional way in various situations while working with clients and their loved ones.
The student practically applies knowledge and experience gained in lectures and the practicum. The student manages to communicate with people in various age groups as well as to communicate with problem types of individuals. The student is able to solve conflicts and problems with an assistance of assertive techniques.
