Course content

Nursing unit, specifics of nursing units - ICU, A&E, children's ward, psychiatric ward, etc. Protective treatment regime. Charter of the Rights of Hospitalized Children. Rights and the responsibilities of patients. Bed care - types of beds for children and adults, patients' positions. Hygienic care for children and adults. Decubitus ulcer, intertrigo. Bandage material, dressings. Care for aids, preparation for surgery, re-dressings, instruments, drains, drainages. Care for the basic biological needs of children and adults, physiological functions - specifics of children and adults. Nursing unit, specifics of nursing units. Bed care - types of beds for children and adults, patients' positions. Admission, transfer, and discharge of patients. Hygienic care for children and adults. Decubitus ulcer, intertrigo. Bandage, dressings. Disinfection, sterilization, and surgical whole. Patients' needs in the process of midwifery. Care for the basic biological needs of children and adults, physiological functions - specifics of children and adults.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the basic terms and topics of procedures in midwifery and nursing practice and to prepare them for activities that are job content of paramedical staff in health care institutions and at home.
Students know the principles of basic procedures in midwifery, accept methodological recommendations that relate to the issue, and work according to the latest scientific findings. They are able to plan, lead, evaluate the performed care in midwifery and prevent undesirable situations that result from the implementation of intrapartum care within a multidisciplinary team.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Written examination
Completion of compulsory 80% attendance at the lectures, practicum sessions and seminars. Fulfillment of the tests in exercises at 70%. Successful completion of a written test 70%. Fulfillment of practical credit.
