Course content
Introduction to somatology, repetition of cytology and histology. Anatomical nomenclature and body orientation. The musculoskeletal system: tissues, bones, muscles, joints. The musculoskeletal system: head, neck, spine and thorax. The musculoskeletal system: limbs. Muscles of the chest, abdomen and pelvic floor. Respiratory system, pleura, mediastinum. Cardiovascular system. Lymphatic system. Body fluids, blood, immunity. Digestive system, metabolism, digestion, peritoneum, position of viscera. Excretory system.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to teach students the basic terminology of the field, the structure and function of organs and organ systems of the human body. A further aim is to create a foundation for subsequent understanding of pathological conditions, preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and Latin terms that a health and social worker encounters in their practice.
Students are familiar with somatological terminology, they can describe the basic structure and function of organs and organ systems, they are familiar with the structure and function of the human body in relation to the practical needs of health and social workers.

Assessment methods and criteria
Didactic test

Specified compulsory attendance in seminars and lectures. Passing a written test or an oral exam, or other conditions, as decided by the course guarantor.
