Course content
|
Basic components of nutrition, metabolic demands of an organism, starvation. Malnutrition and the immune system response. Dietology, enteral nutrition. Parenteral nutrition, a diabetic receiving artificial nutrition. Obesity, weight reduction, antioxidants. Nutrition in pregnancy.

Learning outcomes
|
Students acquire theoretical knowledge of the function and regulation of individual systems, including the necessary terminology. Will be able to infer basic clinical manifestations resulting from their failures and causes functional changes in the organism. The student knows the basic principles of enteral and parenteral nutrition, able to assess the risks and deviations in nutrition. Acquired knowledge is applied in practice.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Oral examination, Written examination
Written test on clinical nutrition. Written examination (multiple response test), or an oral examination. Mandatory attendance in lectures of 70 per cent. Passing the written test. Passing the exam.
