Nursing as an independent discipline. Modern concepts of nursing. Professional education, nursing competencies, and professional organizations. Conceptual models and theories. Gordon's model. Nursing methodology - the nursing process. Implementing nursing care, nursing documentation. Professional standards of the nursing care process and outcome. Quality of care: Global direction and control.

Learning outcomes |
The aim of the course is to master terminology used in the nursing theory, to become familiar with issues relevant in the foundation and the development of nursing and with characteristics of the nursing field as an independent scientific discipline.
The student will be able to place current health features and trends into a cause-and-effect relationship with people's nursing needs. The student is able to determine, implement, and be responsible for specific nursing actions in individual components of the nursing process and will be able to use the terminology of the NANDA nursing diagnoses in practice. |

Home assignment evaluation
Completion of compulsory 60% attendance at the lectures, 80% at the practicum sessions. Successful completion of a written test or an oral examination according to the course guarantor's decision. |
