Course content
Personality traits - acquired. Gaining knowledge about personalities. Fundamentals of social psychology - socialization, social learning. Social group, the group's influence on individuals. Social perception, perceptual stereotypes. Social attitudes, their formation, and change. Prosocial behaviour. Work with one's own personality. Self-confidence. Self-reflection. Personality growth. Mental health care. Development of one's own resilience. Working with one's onw resources. Development of character strengths. Basics of supervision. Social support. Working with a person in crisis (illness, change, pain, death). Basics of crisis intervention. Practising empathy, listening, and emotional support in crisis.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to give students basic information from the area of general and developmental psychology, to acquaint them with the essence of the personality while emphasizing the patient's personality/client.
Students manage to explain the positions of psychology as a science in the system of social sciences, they can analyse mental activities, processes and states and their disorders. Through better cognition of their own personality, they can better understand other people. They understand the differences of human psyche in different developmental periods. Students can use basic techniques for managing stressful situations.

Completion of compulsory 80% attendance at the practicum sessions. Completion of a written test or oral examination according to the course guarantor's decision.
