Course content
Psychology as a scientific discipline. Methods of learning about mental life. Psychic processes. An introduction to personality psychology. Personality theory. Personality traits -- innate. Personality traits -- acquired. Personality recognition. The basics of social psychology - socialization, social learning. Social group, group influence on individuals. Social perceptualism, perceptual stereotyping. Social attitudes, their shaping and changes. Prosocial behaviour. Stress (stress theory, stressors, the effect of stress on health). Group and attitudes in a group. Types of stress situations, and coping with them. Aggression, aggressive patient. Relaxation techniques. Burnout syndrome. Fear, anxiety. Empathy training. Psychological approach to people with handicaps.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to give students basic information from the area of general, social and developmental psychology, to acquaint them with the essence of the personality while emphasizing the patient's personality.
The student is able to explain the status of psychology as a science in the system of social sciences and can analyze mental activities, processes, and states and their disorders. Through understanding of their personality, students understand other people better. Students understand the diversity of the human mind in individual development periods. They are able to use basic strategies for managing stressful situations.

Completion of compulsory attendance in exercises. Successful completion of a written or oral examination according to the course guarantor's decision.
