Course content
Psychology as a scientific discipline. Methods of knowing mental life. Mental processes. Introduction to personality psychology. Theory of personality. Personality traits - innate. Personality traits - acquired. Personality recognition. Basics of social psychology - socialization, social learning. Social group, influence of the group on the individual. Social perception, perceptual stereotypes. Social attitudes, their formation and changes. Prosocial behavior. Working with your own personality. Self-confidence. Self-reflection. Personal growth. Mental health care. Development of own resistance. Working with own resources. Development of character strengths. Basics of supervision. Social support. Working with a person in crisis (illness, change, pain, death). Basics of crisis intervention. Empathy training, listening, emotional support in a crisis.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Skills training, Stimulating activities (simulation, games, drama)
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide students with basic information from the field of general, developmental and social psychology, to familiarize them with the essence of personality with an emphasis on the personality of the patient.
The student is able to explain the position of psychology as a science in a system of social sciences, is able to analyze mental activities, processes, and states and their disorders. Through learning about his/her personality, he/she is able to better understand other people. He/she understands the differences of the human psyche in individual stages of development. He/she is able to use basic techniques of management of stressful situations.

Student performance assessment, Didactic test, Discussion, Systematic monitoring

Fulfilling the mandatory 80% participation in exercises. Completion of a written test or an oral examination as decided by the subject guarantor.
