Course content
Introduction into the field of hygiene and epidemiology. Support and prevention of public health. Nutrition hygiene. Hygienic aspects of environment Work hygiene. Hygiene of children and adolescents. Non-infectious diseases of mass incidence. Primary and secondary prevention of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus, osteoporosis and oncological diseases. Infectious diseases, preventive steps. Nosocomial infections. The problem of addictions. Preventive and addiction treatment programmes. Projects of health support in the CR and in the world. The importance of moving activities and health prevention. Alternative nutritious trends, possible risks, composing of eating plan Compensation of excessive or one-sided work strain. Smoking - prevalence, risks, addiction treatment programmes. Programmes focused on prevention of oncological diseases. Infectious diseases, preventive steps.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to inform the students about the basics of hygiene of environment and work conditions, about the hygiene of nutrition, the problem of toxicology, epidemiology of infectious and non-infectious diseases or about the problems of lifestyle risk factors.
The student is able to orientate himself/ herself in the field of the prevention and support of health at work places with the special accent to hygiene in hospitals. The student is also able to orientate himself/ herself in the prevention of civilization diseases.

Assessment methods and criteria

The fulfilment of compulsory attendance at lectures. The fulfilment of compulsory 80 % active participation at seminars. Completion advocacy semestral written works, of a written test or an oral examination as determined by the course guarantor.
