Course content

Stress (the theory of stress, stressors, impact of stress on health). Mental hygiene. Ontogeny. The concept and essence of intellectual development. The share of heredity, environment and upbringing on the development of the psyche. Theories of Development (E. Erikson, S. Freud). The antenatal period. The neonatal period.Infant period. The period of a toddler. Preschool age and primary school age period. The period of prepuberty and puberty. The period of adolescence. The period of adulthood - differences in the mental life of men and women. The period of old age. Working with a group. Principles of teamwork. Team formation and development. People management - leadership, management. Working with a family in crisis. Interdisciplinary collaboration - nurse, doctor, psychologist, psychiatrist, psychotherapist, social worker, clergy, physiotherapist, community care, etc. Working with case studies and professional resources. Spirituality. Hope, meaningfulness, gratitude, forgiveness. Basic psychotherapeutic techniques.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to give students basic information from the area of general and developmental psychology, to acquaint them with the essence of the personality while emphasizing the patient's personality.
Students can explain the position of psychology as a science in the system of social sciences, they can analyse psychological activities, processes and states and their disorders. Through understanding their personality, they can better comprehend other people. They understand the differences in the human psyche at different developmental stages. They are able to use basic techniques for coping with stressful situations.

Assessment methods and criteria
|
Student performance assessment
Completion of compulsory attendance at the lectures. The fulfillment of compulsory 80% of active participation in exercises. Successful completion of a written or oral examination according to the course guarantor's decision.
