Course content
Evolutionary psychlogie: Introduction to the subject, personality psychology Stress and its management Communication skills Difficult life situation, crisis intervention Post-traumatic stress reaction (acute and chronic), management Paramedic personality traits. Moderators of health, prevention of burnout syndrome. Verbal and nonverbal communication in paramedics practice. Critical Incident Stress Management (debriefing, defusing, peer program). Relaxation, working with your body, imagination.

Monologic (reading, lecture, briefing), Dialogic (discussion, interview, brainstorming), Work with text (with textbook, with book), Stimulating activities (simulation, games, drama)
Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to become familiar with fundamental theoretical postulates of stress and its management including coping strategies. Communication and communication strategies focus on managing difficult life situation with an emphasis on catastrophical medicine.
The student knows aspects of a difficult life situation, has knowledge of basic crisis intervention skills and of issues associated with post-traumatic stress disorder and its management.

Discussion, Systematic monitoring

The oral or a written exam Completion of compulsory 50% attendance at the lectures. The fulfillment of compulsory 80% of active participation in exercises. Successful completion of a written or oral examination according to the course. guarantor's decision. Fulfillment of the seminar work.
