Course content
Concept and characteristics of nursing. Development of nursing in the country and abroad. Professional education and skills. Professional organizations in nursing. Nursing process. Basic nursing models. Nursing documentation and administration activities in healthcare. The quality and safety of healthcare, quality indicators, management of emergencies . Standards and audits in nursing care. Accreditation, certification, total quality management in nursing. Nursing unit. Basic human needs (in general) and the patient. Physiological needs - practical training, determination of nursing diagnoses and goals. Psychosocial needs - practical training, determination of nursing diagnoses and goals. Nursing process - case reports processing. Nursing documentation - practical training. Nursing standard and audit - practical training.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the theory of the nursing process, with the issue of human needs and their classification.
Students acquire theoretical knowledge of the nursing process and its various phases. The students learn how to use practically the method of nursing process and focus in its various phases. Furthermore, the students acquainted with issues of human needs. He/ she obtains information on basic of bio-psycho-social-spiritual needs of man and acquires knowledge and skills necessary for the satisfaction of individual needs of the individual.

Assessment methods and criteria
Written examination

The fulfilment of compulsory 80% attendance at lectures. The fulfilment of compulsory 80 % active participation in seminars. Elaboration of assigned written work .
