Psychology of health and illness. Psychological issues in the healthcare environment. Quality of life. Personality of a healthcare professional, specifics of helping professions, social role of the general nurse, personal development, supervision. Person-centred and relationship-building models and approaches. Empathy, congruence, active listening, crisis intervention.

Learning outcomes
|
The aim of the course is to provide students with basic knowledge in the field of health psychology, illness, and psychosomatic medicine, which is essential for the profession of the general nurse.
The student understands the relationships between mental health in wellness and illness, and grasps the importance of a life story in care. They are aware of the impact of the healthcare environment on both patients and healthcare professionals, and are able to mitigate its negative effects. They comprehend and apply the principles of individualized approaches to both ill and healthy individuals and their families. They master the basics of empathetic communication and self-reflection.
