Course content
Basic principles of palliative care. Psychological stress in palliative care. Ethics and legal aspects in palliative care. Syndrome and symptoms in palliative care.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to acquaint students with the principles of palliative care and to prepare them for situations that may arise while caring for terminally ill and dying patients in home settings, hospitals, hospices, and treatment facilities.
Students know the symptoms of the terminal phases and related nursing interventions. They are able to plan, implement, and evaluate the nursing process in the care of the terminally ill and dying patient within the framework of the health care team. They are able to justify and defend the used procedures in a professional and lay discussion.

Assessment methods and criteria
Home assignment evaluation

Completion of compulsory 80% attendance at the practicum sessions and seminars. Completing assigned written work.
