Course content
Law, concept of law, objective and subjective, legal consciousness, sources of law. Creation of law, legislative system of the Czech Republic. Principles of public law. Principles of private law. The sources of law in healthcare. Health services and healthcare. Health services provider, internal regulations of the provider. Healthcare workers. Patient's rights and obligations, informed consent. Legal responsibility in healthcare. Specific health services, emergency medical services. Public health protection. Public health insurance. Medical documentation. Pharmaceutical law. Establishment, change and termination of an employment relationship, work discipline and work rules, working hours and rest periods, wages, wage compensation and reimbursement of expenses. Health and safety at work, care of employees, working conditions for women and minors, compensations. Legal Informatics. Criminal liability - case studies. Civil liability - case studies. Internal rules of a provider.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to make students familiar with the basics of law, law in healthcare, labour law. The course is divided into three thematic blocks, which study individual sub-educational objectives. The first block consists of lectures no. 1 to 5. Students are introduced to the basics of the functioning of law, law-making in the Czech Republic and the basic principles of private and public law. Students use this knowledge when studying specific areas of law in the other parts of the course. Part of the first block includes a compulsory seminar in legal informatics. The second block consists of medical law with emphasis on medical law in the narrower sense. This block also includes the acquisition of knowledge of public health insurance law, pharmaceutical law, and public health law. The third comprehensive block consists of labour law, with emphasis on individual labour law. A peripheral topic will also be the law of seniority.
Students are familiar with the fundamentals of law, health care law and employment law.
