The aim of the subject is to engage students into health care practice (Complete oncological centre, facility for treatment of chronical defects, Hospice), and also enable the students to apply their theoretical knowledge in terms of clinical practice.
Students identify and meet the needs of cancer patients on the basis of active and individualized nursing care, implemented by the nursing process method, in compliance with legislation, standards and ethical norms. Students are able to assess somatic state and nutrition of a patient, take a nutritional history, and to perform a basic physical examination of a patient. Students are familiar with pain management, education and care for a patient in a terminal state. Students take part in cooperation within the health care team, cooperate with the family of the patient, respect and observe legislation and norms.
