Course content
Research using internet, electronic databases and university library. Study of scientific literature. Requirements on scientific papers. Preparation for print and presentation.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to develop understanding of selected topics in the field of graphic arts through independent study of scientific literature in foreign language. Research is done using information available on internet, in electronic databases and university library. The objective is to clarify requirements on scientific papers and their preparation for both print and oral presentation.
On completion of this course, the student will be able to research scientific literature, understand terminology in given field and have improved both writing and speaking skills in foreign language. The theme elaborated in semestral project can be further developed in diploma thesis.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of courses of Bachelor study program Graphic Arts and Printing Technology. English or German speaking skills on at least upper-elementary level.

Assessment methods and criteria
Home assignment evaluation, Student performance assessment, Oral performance analysis, Presentation

Basic conditions necessary to complete the course are to elaborate the seminar work and main semestral project. The course will be assessed based on prepared abstract (10 %), scientific paper (40 %) and final presentation of project in English or German language (50 %).
