Course content
Introduction, genesis of character, printing character. History of printing, famous printers and prints. Letterpress, flexo, gravure, lithography/offset, other printing techniques. Prepress (reproduction of text and image, calculation of publication, impose, screening, colour reproduction, colour spaces, proof, printing plate preparation). Press (presses for variety of printing techniques). Finishing (folding, collating, stitching, sticking, cutting, binding). Materials (paper, printing ink, others).

Learning outcomes
To acquaint students with basic notions, techniques, materials and machines in Graphic Arts, so they were ready for interpretation in next speciality
The leaver obtains basic knowledge about Graphic Arts. He is ready to understand interpretation in next speciality.
Prerequisites
The object is for students, which didn´t graduate from Graphic Arts secondary school.

Assessment methods and criteria
Oral examination, Written examination

Examination has test and oral parts. Gained knowledge is running tested 3 times in semester and at the end in examination test. Oral examination is discussion about chosen query. Whole classification includes: Running tests - 30 %, Ending test - 30 %, Oral examination - 40 %.
